Wally’s favorite places


These are some of my favorite places to go when I have time to visit the net. I hope you find them beneficial.- Wally
  • Aloha United Way - plays an important part in Hawaii's island community as the state's largest not-for-profit organization. You can find out about their history, their role in the community and their community partners.
  • America's Promise - promises youth five things:
    1) Caring Adults 2) Safe Places 3) Healthy Start 4) Marketable Skills and 5) Opportunities To Serve.
  • Attitudinal Healing - founded by Jerry Jampolsky in 1975, this site provides support for people affected by catastrophic illness
  • Boys and Girls Club -Boys & Girls Clubs offer programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. They are truly The Positive Place For Kids.
  • Child Alert Foundation - is an organization that uses Internet software to assist police, 911 and other law enforcement agencies notify the public of a child abduction. By networking the location of radio, television, police and other civic organizations, abduction information can be disseminated in a matter of minutes to the general public instead of the manual process that is currently in production today.
  • Communities in Schools - achieves its objectives, to champion the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people learn, stay in school, and prepare for life, by supporting a nationwide, independent network of 154 local and 15 state CIS offices.
  • Dads For Kids - shares best practices and solutions to foster better relationships with their children and family while assisting men in becoming the best fathers and men they can be.
  • Forgiveness Works - A catalyst for making forgiveness as natural and important as breathing; to stimulate others to take forgiveness into their lives and create forgiveness projects in their lives.
  • The Giraffe Project - Not only do they have an incredible motto -- "Moving people to stick their necks out for the common good", they have a great kids site too.
  • Give Kids The World - is a resort for children with life-threatening illnesses who wish to visit Walt Disney World and other Central Florida attractions.
  • Heart of America Foundation - is a network for those who ennoble the human race with the quality of their lives. Heart of America also provides books to underserved elementary schools throughout the USA with it’s program, Books From The Heart.
  • Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans - honoring outstanding individuals who have succeeded in spite of adversity and of encouraging young people to pursue their dreams through higher education.
  • Lindamichellebaron's World of Rhythme and Rhyme - created by the founder of Harlin Jacque Publications who is the author of many popular children's books -- with the newest editions containing writing exercises, poetry, suggested goal attainment strategies and methodologies.
  • National Center for Family Literacy - supports family literacy services for families across the United States through programming, training, research, advocacy and dissemination.
  • Read to Me International Foundation - uses their web site to give reading tips and suggested lists of books to read to ages infant through 6th grade.
  • Reading is Fundamental - serves nearly 5 million at-risk children and their families each year by providing them with more than 15,000,000 free, new books that they get to choose and keep. They are now training and retraining nearly 360,000 super folks who run their programs as volunteers.
  • REAL SPEAKING - My friend and colleague Gail Larsen is a master at helping people find the voices they have silenced that bring them fully alive, on or off the speaking platform. Her Real Speaking camps and Ta Da! playshops are the perfect place to learn to give voice to your purpose, passion and power and express yourself with confidence and clarity.
  • United Way - is a good place to start if you are not sure where to give of your time or money. You can find your local United Way at this site.
  • Unity - is the world headquarters of Unity Churches or you can find a church near you through their sister organization Association of Unity Churches.
  • Verizon Literacy University - offers a range of online courses and other resources to support volunteers and program staff working to create a more literate nation.
  • YMCA of America - is the largest community service organization in the United States with services targeted for each community.
  • YMCA of Honolulu - The YMCA is committed to promoting values. We have chosen four core values—caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Wally is on their board of directors.
